ELLENSBURG — Three people have applied for two of Ellensburg’s Commissions — one for planning and two for the art commission.
Both commissions have one open seat.
According to Mayor Nancy Lillquist, the decision will be made at the next regular council meeting on Nov. 16.
The applicant for the planning commission is Central Washington University police officer Jason Berthon-Koch.

In his application, Berthon-Koch said he has worked in law enforcement for 10 years and had worked in construction prior to that.
“I have always been interested in the planning process,’’ Berthon-Koch said in his application. “I believe with my law enforcement and construction experience, I would be a good fit on the planning commission.”
Berthon-Koch was the only applicant present at Monday night’s meeting.
Applicants Jerald Dougherty and Brandon Foote are both applying for the open spot on the arts commission.
Lillquist said Dougherty, a lecturer in theater arts at Central Washington University, has been on the arts commission before.
“He was on the commission and went to Iraq and wants to be reappointed,” Lillquist said at the meeting.
Foote, a CWU student, also applied for the position.
“I would love to be a voice for ‘art,’” Foote said in his application. “I want to represent the unheard, the disbanded and more importantly, the youth of our area.”
Foote is also the co-owner of Organic Art.
